Golf to Play in Elon Phoenix Invitational This Monday, Tuesday

BURLINGTON, N.C. - Drexel golf returns to action on Monday, this time in North Carolina. The Dragons will take part in the Fifth Annual Phoenix Invitational, hosted by Colonial Athletic Association rival Elon.

The 16-team field will play the event at Alamance Country Club in Burlington, N.C. The course will play at par-71 and is 6,867 total yards. There will be 36 holes of play on Monday morning at 8:45 a.m. The teams will conclude the tournament with 18 holes on Tuesday a.m. beginning at 8.

Drexel will send the same five student-athletes who finished fifth in the Firestone Invitational two weeks ago. Seniors Alex Butler, Connor Schmidt will be joined by juniors Stephen Cerbara, Jeffrey Cunningham and Angelo Giantsopoulos. The Drexel five will be competing against Appalachian State, Gardner-Webb, George Mason, George Washington, La Salle, Longwood, Morehead State, Navy, Ohio, Presbyterian, Radford, Temple, Towson, Wofford and the hosts from Elon. There will also be individuals from UNCG and East Carolina.
