Tennis Preps for Busy Weekend Against Villanova and NJIT

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel tennis returns to action this weekend for matches against Villanova and NJIT. The men's team will host Villanova at the Legacy Center for an 11 a.m. match while the women's team will host the Wildcats at Riverwind Golf Club at 12 p.m. Following Friday's matches, the Dragons will travel to Newark N.J. on Sunday to face NJIT for a men's match at 11 a.m. and a women's match at 3 p.m.
Last Time Out
Drexel women's tennis cruised to a 5-1 win against Lehigh on Sunday afternoon at the Lewis Tennis Center. The Dragons picked up the doubles point with victories from pairs Cristina Corte Gonzalez/Ghita Benhadi and Katka Majorova/Marta Martinez in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots, respectively. Drexel men's tennis edged Lehigh on Sunday afternoon in a road match, 4-3. With the win, the Dragons are now 3-4 overall. Gustav Wogen clinched the match in the No. 5 spot with a 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 win against Fishkin. For the release and a full list of results, click here.
Scouting Villanova
The women's team enters Friday's match with a 2-2 record overall. Villanova won matches against Colgate and Lehigh while falling to Navy and Xavier. Claudia Althans and Lexi DeNucci have split playing in the No. 1 spot for Villanova throughout the past four matches.
The men's team is undefeated with wins against Delaware, Colgate, Lehigh and Xavier. Stefan Suarez plays in the No. 1 spot for the Wildcats.
Scouting NJIT
The men's team is 2-2 to start the season with wins against Fairleigh Dickinson and Sacred Heart and losses to Navy and Penn. Tomi Antoljak plays at the top of the ladder for the Highlanders.
The women's team enters the weekend undefeated with victories against Wagner, Sacred Heart, Fairleigh Dickinson, Liu Brooklyn and Fordham. The Highlanders rotate their No. 1 spot between Mouna Bouzgarrou, Joleta Budiman, Mayar Eltony and Advaita Saravanan.
