Golf to Play in Wildcat Invitational Starting Monday at White Manor

MALVERN, Pa. - The Drexel golf team will look to defend its championship starting Monday at the Villanova Wildcat Invitational. The two-day event will take place at White Manor Country Club. The Dragons are looking to build off the momentum they gained from last weeks strong outing at Chambers Bay.
The field for the 2019 Wildcat Invitational includes Akron, Binghamton, Bucknell, Cleveland State, Colgate, Delaware, Fordham, Iona, Lafayette, La Salle, Lehigh, Monmouth, Rhode Island, Siena, St. Bonaventure, St. John's, St. Peter's, Wagner and the hosts from Villanova. Stephen Cerbara, Michael Cook, Jeffrey Cunningham, Angelo Giantsopoulos and Connor Schmidt will be competing this week for the Blue and Gold. Cerbara is the reigning Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week after his performance at Chambers Bay. He finished the tournament at four-under par, one stroke better than Schmidt and two shots ahead of Giantsopoulos. Cerbara tied for 15th overall as the Dragons finished fourth in the 18-team field.
Last season, the Dragons won the 19-team event with a two day total of 573 (-5). Adam Mistretta led the way for Drexel at one-under and finished in a tie for third place overall. Connor Schmidt fired an even-par 71 in both rounds and finished the tournament tied for fifth place overall on the 7,055-yard, par-71 course.
