Coach Azevedo Set to Begin NCAA DI Wrestling Committee Appointment

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel Wrestling Head Coach Matt Azevedo, entering his ninth season at the helm of the Dragons in 2019-20, is set to begin his appointment on the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee, which will run from Sept. 1, 2019 through August 31, 2023.
The committee's biggest task is to determine the conference pre-allocations, at-large selections and seedings for the NCAA Wrestling Championships.
On the mat, the Dragons have won 69 matches, including 10-win seasons in three of the last four years under Azevedo's guidance. Three Dragons have gone on to win three conference championships and 28 have qualified for the NCAA Championships during his tenure. In the classroom, Drexel has been a standout academic wrestling program in the nation, finishing as an National Wrestling Coaches Association DI Top 30 All-Academic Team for six-straight seasons. In 2019, the Dragons were the top academic DI wrestling team in the country with a program-best 3.63 GPA.
