NEW YORK – Three goals in the second half helped carry homestanding Columbia past Drexel women's soccer by a 4-0 margin at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon in the Dragons' final non-conference match of the season.
Drexel (4-3-2) registered five shots on Sunday, putting three on target, and earned four corner kicks. The Lions (5-2-1) tallied 10 shots, five on goal, and five corners.
Cayla Davis highlighted a slow-developing first half when she finished Jordyn Geller's delivery in the 34th minute to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage. The goal was just the third shot on target for either side in the first 34 minutes.
Columbia needed less than five minutes to double its advantage in the second half, scoring by way of Ally Clark in the 49th minute. The Lions tacked on another goal in the 56th minute and added their fourth 11 minutes later.
Libby Baeza (3-2-1) started in goal for Drexel and allowed four goals in 70 minutes and 33 seconds of action. Miyuki Schoyen played the final 19:27 and did not face a shot on target.
The Dragons face a tough bounce-back opportunity on Thursday, when they open play at preseason CAA favorite Hofstra.
