Men's Golf Opens Spring Play in Florida Starting Friday

PALM CITY, Fla. - The Drexel golf team begins its spring season this week in Florida. The Dragons will compete in the Martin Downs Collegiate in Palm City, Fla. The three-day event will be played at the Osprey Creek Golf Club.
The tournament will consist of 54 holes over a three-day span on the 6,802-yard, par 72 course on Florida's east coast. The teams will play one round each day beginning on Friday. The Dragons will tee off Friday a.m. on the back nine starting at 7:30. Alex Butler, Stephen Cerbara, Jeffrey Cunningham, Angelo Giantsopoulos and Connor Schmidt will be representing the Blue and Golf.
Drexel will be playing in a very competitive field in its first tournament in more than three months. The 14-team tournament includes Appalachian State, Bucknell, Elon, Fort Wayne, Holy Cross, the hosts from UNC Greensboro, James Madison, Lehigh, Old Dominion, Samford, Seton Hall, South Dakota and Villanova.
The Dragons are coming off an outstanding fall season. Head coach Ben Feld's squad won two tournaments in the fall and finished in the top five in five of the six events the team played in.
