13-Game Winning Streak Snapped as Women’s Basketball Falls at James Madison

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Drexel University women's basketball team (20-7, 13-2 CAA) dropped only its second conference affair of the season to the James Madison University Dukes (22-4, 13-2 CAA) on Friday evening by a final of 69-39 from JMU's Convocation Center in Harrisonburg, Va.

* Drexel and James Madison are now tied at the top of the CAA at 13-2.
* The loss snaps the Dragons' 13-game winning streak, which was the third longest in program history.
* Senior Aubree Brown became the first player in program history with at least 500 career points, 500 career rebounds and 500 career assists. The senior grabbed her 500th rebound on Friday with 5:05 to play in the third quarter.
* Sophomore Keishana Washington scored a team-high 10 points.
* Drexel forced 26 JMU turnovers.

JMU jumped out to a 10-2 start, forcing Drexel to call a timeout with 5:20 to play in the opening period. James Madison closed the quarter on an 8-0 run to lead 14-2 after 10 minutes. The Dragons were just 1-of-13 from the floor in the quarter.

The trend continued with James Madison leading 18-2 before the Dragons called their second timeout 1:45 into the second quarter. The game reached 25-2 before Greenberg knocked down a pair of free throws to end the Drexel drought, 25-4. Washington hit a three-pointer in the period and Greenberg scored five points including an and-one opportunity late in the quarter. JMU held a 38-12 edge at halftime.

Drexel brought out a full-court press in the second half to attempt to slow the JMU offense. Brown grabbed her 500th career rebound midway through the period. James Madison owned a 45-16 advantage as the Dukes called a timeout after Drexel's press trapped them in a corner. After 12 points in the first half, the Dragons scored 14 in the third quarter, trailing 53-26 heading to the fourth. Nihill had five points in the period while Brown had four.

Washington scored the first five points of the fourth for DU. Bacon had four points in the frame. Connolly and Nihill also contributed baskets. James Madison won by a final of 69-39.
