PINEHURST, N.C. - The Drexel golf team returns to action after a three-week break. The Dragons head to North Carolina where they will play in the 20th annual Pinehurst Intercollegiate.
The tournament begins on Friday and concludes on Thursday. It will consist of 54 holes over three-days at Pinehurst #8, which will be playing at par 72 on the 7,099-yard course. Pinehurst No. 8 was designed to celebrate Pinehurst's 100th Anniversary. It was designed by Tom Fazio and has twice been home to the PGA Club Pro Championship. No. 8 also served as the companion course for the 2017 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship.
The Dragons will face a competitive field in North Carolina. Joining Drexel for the weekend event will be Belmont, Davidson, DePaul, Elon, Florida Gulf Coast, Longwood, Marshall, Niagara, Old Dominion, Radford, Siena and Wisconsin Lutheran College. The five Dragons competing at Pinehurst will be Alex Butler, Stephen Cerbara, Jeffrey Cunningham, Angelo Giantsopoulos and Connor Schmidt.
This will be the second of five events this spring for Drexel. The Dragons opened the year in Palm City, Fla. in the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate. They will return to North Carolina in late March, when they play in the UNCW Seahawk Intercollegiate.
