Field Hockey Announces Six to 2021 Incoming Class

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel University field hockey head coach Denise Zelenak has announced the signings of six student-athletes to its 2021 incoming class.
AREN DARDARIAN
Aren Dardarian attends the Agnes Irwin School in Rosemont, Pa. She is a multi-sport athlete in field hockey (goalie), basketball (guard) and softball (shortstop). Dardarian served as the field hockey team captain as a senior and is a two-year varsity starter. Her teams have experienced much success including as winners of the 2018 Pre-Festival Tournament and second place finishes in the 2019 Junior Premier Outdoor League and 2020 National Indoor Tournament (Pool C). A native of Broomall, Pa. and an honor roll student, she plans to major in business analytics at Drexel. Her mother, Nyree, is an assistant clinical professor at the University.
AMANDA FOSTER
Amanda Foster attends Conestoga High School in Berwyn, Pa. A defensive center mid, she was named to the All-Mainline Team in 2019. A National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic Squad member, she served as a team captain as a junior and senior. A two-time Central League Champion, her 2018 squad went undefeated. A native of Paoli, Pa., she plans to major in psychology at Drexel. Foster had a relative graduate from the University all the way back in 1922.
ANNA GETTY
Anna Getty attends the Padua Academy in Wilmington, Del. A multi-sport athlete, Getty is a four-year member of both the field hockey team (center midfield/right midfield) and the soccer team (center midfield/outside back). Playing on varsity field hockey squad all four years, she is a two-time First Team All-State, a one-time Second Team All-State and a three-time First Team All-Catholic Conference selection. Her field hockey team also finished runner-up twice at the state championships. Her varsity soccer team won state championships three years in a row (2017-19). She is an honor roll student and has served on student council for three years. A native of Wilmington, Del., she plans to major in chemical engineering at Drexel.
SAGE O'CONNOR
Sage O'Connor attends Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, Pa. A multi-sport athlete, she is a four-year member of the field hockey team (center midfield) and lacrosse teams. She also played one year of basketball and ran indoor track for two years. She was a 2018 and 2019 All-Central League Honorable Mention for lacrosse. O'Connor comes from an athletic family with her mother, Melissa, having played field hockey and lacrosse at Penn, her father, Will, having rowed at Penn, and her older brother, Matthew, currently playing football at Villanova. Her mother also previously worked as an assistant coach for the DUFH program at the beginning of head coach Denise Zelenak's tenure. Her grandmother, Anne Sage, also played field hockey and lacrosse at Temple while her grandfather, Howard Sage, wrestled at West Chester. A native of Narberth, Pa., she plans to major in health sciences at Drexel.
TINA RAWA
Tina Rawa attends Garnet Valley High School in Glen Mills, Pa. She plays field hockey (midfield) and ran track (800m/1600m) at the school. A four-year varsity starter of the GVHS field hockey program, her 2020 squad won the Central League. She was named First Team All-State, First Team All-Delco and First Team All-Central League in 2019 while leading Garnet Valley to its first state tournament appearance in school history. In 2018, she was named Second Team All-State, Honorable Mention All-Delco and First Team All-Central League. In 2017, she earned Honorable Mention All-Central League. Rawa's teams have twice won the NIT and twice finished second at the Disney Showcase. A native of Garnet Valley, Pa. and a distinguished honor roll student, she plans to major in biological sciences at Drexel. Her father, Raymond, graduated from the University.
JORDYN TRAVIS
Jordyn Travis attends the St. Catherine's School in Richmond, Va. A four-year member of the varsity field hockey team, Travis is also a three-year member of the varsity indoor and outdoor track and field teams, competing in shot put, discus and running as a sprinter. Her field hockey teams were twice LIS runners-up in 2017 and 2019 while advancing to the semifinals in 2018. They also advanced to the VISSA State semifinals in 2017 and 2018 before finishing runner-up in 2019. She had her 2020 season canceled due to the pandemic. Travis also plays club field hockey for the Saint Hockey FHC. A native of Richmond, Va. and an honor roll student, she plans to major in elementary education at Drexel. Her mother, Michelle, played field hockey at VCU.
