Drexel Athletes of the Week: Men's 8+ and Thewessen

PHILADELPHIA – The Varsity 8+ of men's rowing and Puk Thewessen of field hockey have been named the Drexel Athletes of the Week for the period of Monday, October 18 to Sunday, October 24.
The Drexel men's 8+ finished second out of 39 boats at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston on Sunday afternoon. Rowing in Lois Krall II, Sam DeSilva, Josh Diggons, Dimitrije Ibrocic, John Karen, Damian Lis, Nikola Loncar, Jake Miller, CJ Rooney, and Roman Smigiel finished the race in 14:57.553, one of just three boats to complete the event in under 15 minutes.
Thewessen scored a pair of goals for the the Dragons against JMU and No. 16 UVA over the weekend. The senior back provided the momentum that the Dragons needed against two powerhouse offenses. With both goals, Thewessen is tied for second on the team in goals with five.
