Dragons Down Robert Morris at Vidas Field, 19-13

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Sean Donnelly and Ryan Genord each finished with six points as Drexel defeated Robert Morris, 19-13, on Saturday afternoon. The Colonials led 11-10, but the Dragons scored six straight times to take control of the game.
The Dragons raced out to a lead and led 10-5 at intermission. However, the Colonials opened the second half on a six-goal run to take the lead for the first and only time in the game. Brandon Sulhoff had three goals during the stretch. The Dragons responded with their own six-goal run to take momentum back and win going away. Drexel tied the game on a nifty play when Aidan Coll, sitting behind the net on the left, lofted a pass to a breaking Luke Hurley. The fifth-year senior broke in ta tied the game with 4:44 left in the third. Les than two minutes later, Coll found Genord who ripped one into the net as the Dragons took the lead for good. Drexel led 12-11 after three.
Drexel's Collin Mailman rifled a shot past Robert Morris goalie Liam Rosenthal just over two minutes into the fourth. Just 11 seconds later, Jimmeh Koita won the draw, picked up the ground ball and found Charlie Maly at the 12:46 mark giving the Dragons a three-goal advantage. Coll and Jack Mulcahy added scores before Sulhoff scored his fifth of the game to stop the run. RMU could only get to within four the rest of the way as the Dragons won their second straight game.
The game was one sided in the early going as Drexel scored four goals in the first 2:17 of the contest. Sean Donnelly scored three of those goals and finished the day with five goals and an assist. It was his fourth hat trick in five games in a Drexel uniform. Genord had another outstanding game on offense. He had four goals and two assists and now has a team-high 23 points in five games. Coll and Mulcahy each scored twice.
Jimmeh Koita had his best game of the young season. The fifth-year senior took every face-off and won 23 of 34. He finished with a game-high 13 ground balls. George Grippo added five ground balls. Ross Blumenthal made 14 saves in recording his third win of the year.
Drexel outshot the Colonials, 19-13, and had seven more ground balls than their opponents. It was a turnover-filled game as the two teams combined for 38 miscues. Drexel had 20 of those turnovers.
Sulhoff's five scores led Robert Morris. Ryan Smith added three goals, while Austin Popovich had a pair of goals and assists. Rosenthal made 14 saves in the cage.
