PHILADELPHIA – Drexel women's soccer opened its Colonial Athletic Association schedule with a hardfought 1-0 loss against James Madison on Sunday afternoon from Vidas Field.
After an even first 10 minutes, the Dukes applied pressure for the remainder of the first half, holding a 10-4 advantage on shots at intermission. The Dragons defense was up to the challenge, only allowing five of those shots on target, with Miyuki Schoyen coming up with saves on all of them, on her way to seven total stops in the match.
Drexel came out with the jump in the second stanza, attacking early and creating chances, but could not crack the scoreboard. Scoreless into the 77th minute, JMU tallied the only goal of the contest on a shot from distance into the top left corner.
The Dragons return to action on Sunday, October 3 with a road trip to the College of Charleston. Opening tap is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
