HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Dragons struck first. In the 12th minute, Antonio Illuminato, from about midfield, played the ball up to just outside the penalty box to Joshua Pulla. Pulla touched it once and sent it to Kyle Tucker, making a run on his left. The fifth year senior twisted to his right and beat the diving Delaware keeper to his right to score. It was Tucker's second goal of the season.
- Delaware retaliated in the 43rd minute on a quick counter. But the tie didn't hold, on Drexel's kickoff, the Dragons kicked the ball downfield and Cesar Banacloy drew a foul inside the box to earn Daniel Nesseler a penalty kick. Nesseler, like he has done two other times this season converted the free chance.
- To begin the second half, Drexel was not complacent. The Dragons set up a free kick on the right side and about 25 yards back. After Tucker played the ball in, the ball bounced around and finally landed at the feet of Michael McCarthy. The fifth year senior took a touch with his left foot and then struck the ball with his right to put the Dragons up, 3-1.
