Dragons Down Northeastern, 1-0, in CAA Quarterfinals

ELON, N.C. - Sound defense and timely offense propelled the Drexel men's soccer team past the Northeastern Huskies on Thursday night. The Dragons saved a penalty kick in the 66th minute. and one minute later, the Dragons scored to take a 1-0 edge. The Dragons now prepare to face the top-seeded Elon Phoenix on Sunday, Nov. 6.

- Drexel outshot the Huskies 15-13 and had a better shot on goal percentage than Northeastern. Drexel placed eight shots on target, while Northeastern could only place five on net.
- Alessandro Capogna continues to shine in net for the Dragons, completing his sixth shutout of the 2022 campaign. The GK did his part in goal for the Dragons as he stopped yet another penalty kick. The graduate student is now 3-for-4 in PK attempts. Capogna also lowered his goals against average to 1.06, 35th in the country.
- Cesar Banacloy saw 52 minutes of action and the junior made each minute count. On Drexel's counter from the penalty kick, Banacloy received a feed from Dominick Bachstein and beat the diving keeper.
- Drexel's victory is the program's first since the team won the conference title in 2013.
