Both wrestlers competed at the 2021 Championships with O'Malley advancing to day two of competition. Barczak found a tough matchup in #3 Jake Wentzel from Pitt in his opening matchup, followed by a close sudden victory loss to EIWA rival Ricky Stamm (Hofstra).
Despite getting a loss in the opening round against #14 Hayden Hasting (Wyoming), O'Malley powered to a win over Jacob Nolan (Binghamton), advancing him to the second day of competition. He then came out strong against #20 Trent Munoz (ASU) but lost to a top-seeded #5 Logan Massa (Michigan) in a 5-1 decision to close out the weekend.
Barczak and O'Malley both enter the championships with 20+ wins under their belt. At the #30 seed, Barczak was selected to face #3 Alex Marinelli (Iowa) in the opening round and #8 O'Malley selected #25 Gerrit Nijenhuuis (Purdue), who he previously pinned in the Dragons season opening dual with the Boilermakers.
