Dragons Fall to Charleston, 7-2

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Drexel softball team fell to the Charleston Cougars on Sunday afternoon, 7-2. Charleston (6-21, 1-2 CAA) used a six-run sixth inning to stop the Dragons (11-7, 2-1 CAA) from sweeping the weekend series.
Jessica Schable (0-2) earned the start in the circle for Drexel and went five innings. The junior fanned five batters and allowed seven hits.
Ashley Errico went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and a run. The sophomore launched a two-run home run in the first inning of the game to give Drexel its two runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Drexel started the game in the driver's seat. Errico, in the clean-up spot, hit a two-run home run. It was Errico's seventh of the year.
Charleston answered back with one run in the fourth inning. The Cougars hit a single to left field and scored its first run of the game. At the end of the fourth, Drexel led 2-1.
Charleston scored six runs on five hits in the sixth inning, including a two-run home run.
WHAT'S NEXT
Despite losing on Sunday, Drexel earned its first conference series victory. The Dragons finish the weekend with a 2-1 record in conference play and prepare to open their home schedule on Wednesday, March 30, against Hartford. First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 11 a.m.
