Swimming and Diving Teams to Compete in CSCAA National Invitation Championships

The Drexel swimming and diving teams are set to compete at the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America National Invitational Championships. The meet will take place from March 10-12 in the Elkhart Health & Aquatics Center in Elkhart, Ind. Drexel will send six men and seven women to the invitational meet.
Xabier Carneiro, Alessio Gianni, Paris Raptis, John Scully, Nikita Timoshenko and Kacper Karnik will represent the men's team and make the trip to Indiana, while Becca Demaree, Chelsea Gravereaux, Lera Nasedkina, Fede Nocera, Victoria Palochik, Paige Powell and Maddie Riley will represent the Drexel women's team.
Xabier Carneiro
Carneiro will partake in the 500 free, 400 IM, 200 back, and the 1000 free. Among Colonial Athletic Association swimmers, Carneiro owns the eighth-best 500 free time (4:34.17), fourth-best 400 IM time (3:56.78) and the fourth-best 1,000 free time (9:34.21). His best 500 free and 1,000 free times came in the CAA Championships, while his best 400 IM time came at the Patriot Invitational.
Alessio Gianni
Gianni will be competing in the 500 free, 200 free, 200 back and the 100 free. At the CAA Championships, Gianni became the 200 free champion with a time of 1:37.34 to win gold. The freshman owns the second-best 500 free time (4:25.41) in the conference, along with the sixth-best 100 free time (44.57).
Paris Raptis
Raptis will swim the 200 IM, 100 fly, 100 breast and 200 fly in Elkhart, Ind. Raptis was the runner-up at the CAA Championships in the 100 fly and 200 fly, as the senior owns the second-best time in the conference in both events. Raptis also won a bronze in the 200 IM for his third-best conference time at the conference championships (1:47.21). Raptis swam a 100 breast time of 55.26 at the Patriot Invitational, the eighth-best time in the conference.
John Scully
Scully will be competing in the 50 breast, 50 free, 100 breast and 100 free. Among CAA swimmers, Scully owns top 15 times in all four events with times of 26.14, 20.44, 56.24 and 45.05, respectively.
Nikita Timoshenko
Timoshenko is set to show his skills in the backstroke, as he will compete in the 50 back, 100 back and 200 back. Timoshenko recorded the best 50 back time in the conference this year at the conference championships, where he swam a 21.47 in a relay leadoff. He also owns the 12th-best time in the conference in the 100 back with a time of 49.37.
Kacper Karnik
Karnik will be looking to build off his success at the CAA Championships, where he was named Co-Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet. Karnik will swim the 50 breast, 50 free, 100 breast and 200 breast in Indiana. Karnik was crowned the 200 breast champion at the CAA Championships with a time of 1:54.69 to win gold. Karnik won bronze in the 100 breast with the conference's third-best time this year at 52.97. The Poland native was a part of four program records at the conference championships.
Becca Demaree
Demaree will wrap up her packed week in Indiana. Earlier this week, she competed in the one-meter dive at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships. Demaree will participate in the one-meter dive again at CSCAA's.
Chelsea Gravereaux
Gravereaux will be looking to build off a strong conference championship meet last time out. She will be competing in the 50 fly, 50 free, 100 fly and 100 free. Gravereaux collected five medals at the CAA Championships, including two silvers in individual events. One of those silver medals came in the 100 free. She also owns the fourth-best 50 free time in the conference this year (23.07).
Lera Nasedkina
Nasedkina will be joining Gravereaux in all four events, as she will be competing the 50 fly, 50 free, 100 fly and 100 free. Nasedkina also won five medals, including two individual silver medals in the 50 and 100 free. She owns the second-best conference times this year in the 50 fly (24.82), 50 free (22.31) and 100 free (49.61).
Fede Nocera
Nocera will be looking to own the backstroke events as she will be competing in the 50 back, 100 back and 200 back. Nocera was crowned the CAA 200 back champion with a time of 1:56.56 to win gold. She also won silver in the 100 back with a time of 54.69, the conference's fourth-best time this year.
Victoria Palochik
Palochik will be competing in the 50 fly, 50 free and 100 fly. She won bronze at the CAA Championships in the 100 fly with a time of 54.98. She owns top 15 times in the conference for all three events with times of 25.56, 23.44 and 54.98, respectively.
Paige Powell
Powell will partake in the 100 fly, 200 free and 100 free. Powell owns top 15 times in the conference in the 200 and 100 free with times of 1:50.75 and 50.86, respectively. She also contributed to a gold medal at the conference championships in the 400 free relay.
Maddie Riley
Riley will be competing for Drexel in the long-distance swims. She will swim the 500 free, 400 IM, 1,650 free and 1,000 free. Riley won silver in the 1,650 free at CAA Championships with a time of 16:46.61, in addition to a bronze in the 500 free (4:53.51) and 400 IM (4:24.72). She owns the second-best 1,000 free time in the conference this year with a time of 10:07.32.
