PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel field hockey team battled the No. 16 Saint Joseph's Hawks to a halftime tie before the Dragons were upended 5-2 on Friday afternoon.

- Drexel got goals from Eline Di Leva and Amber Brouwer, the first of the season for each.
- Puk Thewessen recorded her first assist of the year on Brouwer's goal.
- Megan Hadfield helped keep the Dragons in the game, making 11 saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- DU broke the ice midway through the first quarter as Di Leva took the ball just outside the offensive zone, moved to the right of the arc and shot the ball across the attacking area into the lower left of the cage for a 1-0 Dragons lead.
- After the Hawks scored the next two, Drexel knotted the contest with just more than six minutes left before halftime. On a penalty corner, Brouwer inserted the ball. Taylor Mason passed to Thewessen, who sent it back to Brouwer on the left side of the net. The senior from Rotterdam did the rest, poking home her first goal of the year.
