PHILADELPHIA – Val Van Hellemont scored a pair of goals to lift the Drexel field hockey team to a 2-0 triumph over American on Sunday afternoon. The Dragons move to 11-4 overall and 7-1 on home turf at Buckley Field this season.

BY THE NUMBERS

Megan Hadfield obtained six saves and earned her fourth shutout of the year.
DU was able to stop the Eagles on nine penalty corner opportunities.
Van Hellemont is the first Dragon to record double digit goals this fall.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first quarter ended at 0-0 after Drexel and American combined for two shots on goal.
In the 26th minute, Van Hellemont lifted a shot past the AU goalie to the top left corner of the cage for the first tally of the contest.
Hadfield kept American off the board with a pair of saves on back to back shots midway through the second quarter.
Late in the third frame, Natali Foster's shot was saved and Van Hellemont fired a rebound which extended Drexel's lead to 2-0 with 17:51 remaining.
