BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Drexel University women's soccer team scored a pair of first half goals, but a late rally by Campbell saw the Camels edge DU 3-2 on Thursday night.
The Dragons wasted no time in getting on the board as right from the opening tap, Drexel forced a Camels turnover. Gabrielle Perrotto took the ball down the left side across midfield and sent a pass to the top of the offensive third to Ava Boyd. Boyd took a touch to settle and delivered a perfect ball to Casey Touey who chipped the ball into the net from the top right corner of the box just 24 second into the match.
After Campbell scored in the 13th minute, DU continued to pour on the pressure, recording seven shots in the next 11 minutes before the ball bounced to Isabel Kuzy after a defensive miscue. The Cinnaminson, N.J. native calmly sent the ball into the bottom right of a wide open net for her third goal of the season.
The game remained at that score for the next 55 minutes before Campbell recorded the equalizer at the 80:43 mark. The Camels tallied the game-winner with 1:46 remaining in the contest.
The Dragons continue their trip to North Carolina on Sunday, October 8 at 12:00 p.m. when they take on Elon.
