Dragons and Saint Joseph's Meet on Sunday at DAC

PHILADELPHIA - The Dragons return to the DAC to host the Saint Joseph's Hawks on Sunday, November 18. It will be the second A 10 team the Dragons play, the last being La Salle on Wednesday. Tipoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. and can be seen on FloHoops. The game is sponsored by The Study.
Last Time Out
Drexel defeated the La Salle Explorers on Wednesday, 71-46 at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. Drexel shot 48 percent from the floor and scored 30 points in the paint.
Laine McGurk and Amaris Baker combined had 39 points and 13 rebounds, setting career-highs in the scoring column. McGurk finished the game with 20 points, the highest single-game total of any Dragon this season. The freshman went 9-for-12 from the field and 2-for-4 from long distance. For Baker, she went 8-for-14 from the field and hit a pair of 3-pointers.
Drexel held La Salle to just .328 from the floor and just .100 from long distance. The Dragons held the Explorers to single digits to close the first half at eight.
There was only one lead change throughout the game, which came in the third minute. A layup by Chloe Hodges pushed Drexel past La Salle, 6-5, and the Explorers never caught back up. Drexel had the lead for over 37 minutes.

Saint Joseph's is coached by Cindy Griffin, who is in her 26th season of coaching Division I Basketball and 23rd season at her alma mater. The 1991 graduate as a 421-338 record, and have led the Hawks to 13 postseason appearances.

Sunday will be the 22nd matchup between the two city teams. In a rivalry dating back to Tuesday, November 24, 1998, the Dragons have been quite successful at home, sporting a record of 7-2. Overall, SJU holds the series record by one game, 11-10.
Drexel has found success recently, winning six of the last eight meetups, including a five-game winning streak between 2016 and 2021.
