Men's Swimming and Diving Defeats Lehigh 172-64

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Drexel men's swimming and diving team defeated the Lehigh Mountain Hawks on the road Saturday, 172-64. The Dragons ran the table, finishing first in all 12 events. With the win, the Dragons moved to 2-1 on the season, while the Mountain Hawks fell to 1-5.
In the 200 free relay, Dimi Gkelis, Kacper Karnik, Jakub Kwasny and Sebastian Smith took first with a time of 1:30.41. This mark also set a Lehigh pool record.
Alessio Gianni had a busy day as he placed first in the 100 and 300 IM with times of 52.66 and 3:00.87 respectively. Both of these marks were career-bests for Gianni. Dimi Gkelis finished first in the 50 back, clocking in at 23.43. Another freshman to place first was Kaan Akdag in the 400 free who finished with a mark of 3:40.65.
Kacper Karnik was the first to hit the wall in the 50 breast with a time of 25.88. Sebastian Smith also had a first-place finish in the 50 free and 50 fly thanks to times of 20.78 and 22.22 each.
The Dragons also competed in the mixed 200 relay as Jakub Kwasny and Sebastian Smith joined Clare Schwartz and Megan Ehrnfeldt for a first-place time of 1:29.93.
Meanwhile, on the diving board, Jack Patton finished on top in both the one and three meter boards, putting up scores of 258.90 and 279.68 each.
Up next, the Dragons will travel to Newark, Del. to take on the Delaware Blue Hens on January 6. The first event is slated for 10 a.m.
