Dragons Continue Road Trip to Face Marist

PHILADELPHIA – The Dragons travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to face the Marist Red Foxes on Wednesday, December 6, at 7 p.m. all action can be seen on ESPN+.
Last Time Out
The Lehigh Mountain Hawks sank a free throw with a second left on the clock to defeat the Drexel Dragons on Tuesday, Nov. 28 in Bethlehem, 58-57.
Brooke Mullin tied a career-high 17 points on 6-of-18 from the field and 3-for-3 from long range. It was the second straight game with 17 points for Mullin and the first time in the graduate student's career that she has scored double digits in back-to-back games.
Laine McGurk tallied 14 points in the effort, marking her fourth straight game in double-digits. The freshman also hit a 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds remaining to tie the game at 57-57.
Drexel forced 18 turnovers and notched eight steals in the effort. The 18 turnovers are the second-highest for Lehigh this season.
The final quarter was a back-and-forth battle. After Lehigh took the lead with just under six minutes left in the quarter, Drexel managed to pull within a basket with 20 seconds remaining. The home team went 0-for-2 at the free throw line but grabbed an offensive rebound to go to the line once more and put the game away. Meghan O'Brien converted on one of the free throws to push the Lehigh lead to three, giving Drexel a chance to tie the game, 57-54. After a Drexel timeout, Laine McGurk hit an off-balanced three-pointer to even the score. With 1.3 seconds remaining, Lily Fandre drew a foul and went to the charity stripe to take two free throws. Fandre missed the first shot but succeeded on her second attempt. With no timeouts left, Drexel was forced to take the ball out from the baseline and was unable to get a shot off before the horn sounded.
About Marist
The Red Foxes enter the midweek matchup with a 2-5 record after falling to the Yale Bulldogs, 50-40. The 40 point performance is the second straight game where the Red Foxes were held to less than 50 points. The Poughkeepsie team had one player, Zaria Shazer, in double-digits. Marist shot 13 for 34 overall.
This season, Marist has struggled keeping the ball secured, averaging 18.6 turnovers per game. It's -5.29 scoring margin is 328th in the Division I.
Zaria Shazer leads all of the Red Foxes in scoring, averaging 16.1 points and 9 rebounds per game. Shazer is joined by Morgan Lee as the two players who have started in all seven games. Morgan averages 4.9 points and 1.6 boards per game.
The Red Foxes are coached by Erin Doughty, who is in her debut coaching season. Albeit not her first year with the program. The '06 Marist alum has 22 seasons in association with the Marist women's basketball program, which included time as a student-athlete, student assistant coach, assistant coach and associate head coach.

Hannah Nihill led DU with 14 points in the game, adding six assists and three steals.

For the contest, Drexel held a 38-33 advantage on the boards, including 14-5 on the offensive glass, but were hurt at the free throw line, as Marist went 12-of-17 while the Dragons were 5-of-7.
