EASTON, Pa. – Julian Jordheim scored the first goal of his career in the 84th minute against Lafayette to tie the game at one and secure the draw for Drexel on Monday night in Easton, Pa.

The Dragons and Leopards played the first 45 minutes with only three shots. But after halftime, the two teams battled. The Dragons took five shots in the second half, which more than doubled the Lafayette effort with two.

The Leopards checked in first. A defensive breakdown on a cross in the 60th allowed Lafayette to get its best look on goal. Lawrence Aydlett volleyed a ball into the back of the net to take the 1-0 lead over Drexel.

It was the final 15 minutes where the Dragons played their best. The Dragons did not miss a beat, and Lafayette began to tire out and flat-footed. In the 81st minute, Drexel had its first genuine chance on goal. Dominick Bachstein was left one-on-one with the Leopard keeper and was a header away from tying the game. However, Bachstein got under the ball and lifted it over the crossbar.

In the 84th minute, Drexel was awarded a corner kick, which was pushed out of bounds by the Leopards and gave Drexel another opportunity to knot the game at one. Patrick Short quickly set the ball up and served the ball into the 18-yard box, where Jordheim picked up the Dragon's tying goal.

The Dragons had one more chance to win in the 85th minute. Ben Weller had a one-on-one opportunity to which the Lafayette keeper was far off his line. Weller attempted to chip the ball over the keeper, but it was saved and batted away.

Drexel opens its conference slate this Saturday at Charleston, S.C. The Dragons face the Cougars at 1 p.m. and the match can be seen on FloFC.
