Second Half Rally Falls Just Short for Women's Soccer

Trailing by a pair of goals early in the second half, Dunbar put the ball into the bottom right corner of the net after Meg Tate sent it in for Casey Touey who then crossed for Dunbar at the 52:56 mark. Midway through the period, Towson pushed the lead back to two goals, scoring on a third attempt after a pair of saves from Molly Piso.
Late in the 78th minute, Perrotto recorded her second goal of the season. Payton came forward and crossed the ball from the top right of the box. On the doorstep of the far post was Perrotto to redirect it home, slicing the lead to 3-2. Towson added a pair of goals late before Payton's tally created the final score with just more than two minutes left.
The Tigers scored on their first two shots of the match inside of the first three minutes of the contest to take a quick 2-0 lead. The Dragons nearly countered less than a minute later on a shot from Touey, but the ball was stopped from going over the goal line by a Towson defender. DU held a 4-1 advantage the remainder of the half in shots on goal, however the contest remained a 2-0 into intermission.
Drexel returns to action on Thursday, September 28 when it hosts Charleston in a CAA match. For the game, the Dragons will partner with Hillinski's Hope in support of mental health awareness. Opening tap from Vidas Field is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
