PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's tennis had a solid showing at the ITA Northeast Regional. The Dragons had eight student-athleties qualify for the event in the school's history.
Alex De Sousa and Will Burridge both qualified for the main draws in singles play. Burridge was able to pick up a victory in the main draw and advanced to the round of 32.
After day one of the doubles competition, three of the four Drexel doubles squads advanced to the next day. De Sousa and Roman Lafond advanced all the way to the round of 16 on Sunday.
"Finishing last season in the top 10 in the region definitely gave us confidence going into this year's ITA's. The team has made so much progress with only 4-5 weeks of training," head coach Mehdi Rhazali said. "The new additions and the returners clicked super well and that helped us focus on the tennis. This team will be a tough team in the spring. We have one more tournament to go. Now it's time to sharpen our strength, clean up our footwork pattern and decision making and get even fitter."
