Dragons Fall to North Carolina A&T, 54-47

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's basketball team was defeated by the North Carolina A&T Aggies on Sunday Afternoon, 54-47. The Aggies (15-7, 9-2 CAA) used a 19 point fourth quarter to overcome a 11-point Drexel (10-11, 5-5 CAA) lead.
BY THE NUMBERS
Brooke Mullin paced Drexel in the scoring column with 16 points. The graduate student also grabbed four rebounds and tallied three assists.
Chloe Hodges reached double-digits for the third-straight game. The senior finished with 12 points, five rebounds and five assists.
The Dragons held the lead for a total of over 35 minutes. The Aggies took its first lead in the fourth quarter with just under five minutes left to play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dragons and Aggies had a highly contested first frame. Mullin and Hodges led the Dragons with nine and seven points. The Dragons, overall, took 20 shots in the first quarter, cashing in on eight of those attempts. Laine McGurk helped Drexel finish the first quarter with a two-point lead, scoring four points.
The Dragons widened their lead to seven in the second quarter. Hodges continued her dominant play by scoring five more points and pushing her total to nine. Mullin chipped in four points. The Dragons held the Aggies to just 3-for-13 from the field and forced four turnovers in the second quarter.
The third quarter was the first quarter where the Aggies outscored the Dragons. However, it was only by one point. Jordyn Dorsey scored eight of the Aggies' 13 points.
The Aggies outscored the Dragons 19-6 in the final 10 minutes of the game. Chaniya Clark scored seven points for the Aggies. The Dragons struggled to find any offensive rhythm. DU went 2-for 8 from the field and committed six turnovers.
UP NEXT
Drexel travels to Towson and Delaware next Friday and Sunday. The Dragons take on the Tigers Friday night at 6 p.m., and will then travel to Newark, Del., to face the Blue Hens on Sunday at 1 p.m.
