Errico and Abbonizio Notch Milestones, Dragons Bested in Doubleheader by Elon

ELON, N.C. – Ashley Errico and Grace Abbonizio notched their 100th hit as the Drexel softball team was bested by the Elon Phoenix in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. Elon took the first game, 12-2, then took the second game, 6-0.
Errico entered the game with 99 hits in her career and broke 100 with a single in the top of the second. In the top of the fourth, Abbonizio joined Errico with triple-digits in the hit column by hitting an RBI single to center field.
Allison Hoppe (4-12) started the game and pitched 2.2 innings, conceding six runs on nine hits. Natalie Alldred entered the game in relief and also pitched 2.2 innings, allowing six runs on four hits.
Elon scored five runs in the third, three runs in the fifth and four runs in the sixth to take a 12-2 lead.
In the second game, Elon scored a pair of runs in the first inning and third inning to jump out to a five-run lead. The Phoenix extended their lead with run in the fifth and sixth inning.
