Four Dragons Named to the CSC Academic All-District Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Grace Abbonizio, Lindsay Nelson, Ashley Errico and Lily Meuninck of the Drexel softball team have been named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District as announced by the organization.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be of a sophomore academic standing or higher with a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key reserve for their team.
Abbonizio completed the best season of her career after hitting .357 and slashing a .911 OPS. The senior, who appeared in all 45 games this season, tallied 46 hits, including seven doubles, one triple and three home runs. In addition, the West Chester, Pa. native finished her final season in a Drexel uniform with a .930 fielding percentage, with 64 putouts and two assists from centerfield.
Nelson capped off her career as a Dragon on a high, finishing with a team best 3.89 ERA and 108 strikeouts. The graduate student started in 23 of 26 appearances, allowing opponents to a .284 batting average. The Old Bridge, N.J. native pitched a total of 142.0 innings in the circle, with a Drexel best nine wins. Nelson also showed off her defensive skills with a .995 fielding percentage, with 174 putouts and 16 assists.
Errico smashed four home runs on the season, which tied for the team best. The senior had 21 hits and 12 RBIs on the year, including two three ribbie games in wins against Lafayette and Towson. The Easton, Pa. native appeared in 40 games this year, finishing with a .649 OPS and .343 slugging percentage, as well as a .923 fielding percentage with 28 putouts and 56 assists.
Meunick appeared in 36 games for the Dragons, collecting 21 hits and four doubles. The junior had four multiple hit games this season, including two knocks and a homerun in the win at Hampton on April 12. The Newnan, Ga. native ended with a .671 OPS, slugging for .366 and eight RBIs. Meunick was second on the team in putouts with 165 and three double plays, ending with a solid .982 fielding percentage.
