Drexel Defeats Towson, 6-1, to Clinch Series on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel softball defeated Towson, 6-1, on Sunday to win the series. The Dragons move to 21-21 overall and 10-11 in CAA play.
Prior to the game, Drexel recognized its four seniors on Senior Day: Kalea Calugay, Devyn Demchak, Madison Taylor, and Sidney Toukonen.
How It Happened
Drexel took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Olivia Sciulli scored from third and Kelsie Peters scored from second on a Natalie Alldred single to left center to make it 2-0.
Towson responded in the top of the third inning with a solo home run to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Drexel added to its lead in the fourth inning. Natalie Alldred scored on a fielder's choice by Annabelle Smink to make it 3-1. Later in the inning, Ariana Castillo and Smink scored on a Kylah Reading double to left field. Quinn Cunnigham then scored on a single up the middle by Sciulli to extend the lead to 6-1.
Drexel held Towson scoreless over the final three innings to secure the win.
By the Numbers
Kylah Reading went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Olivia Sciulli went 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
Natalie Alldred recorded two RBI.
Courtney Kols pitched a complete game, allowing one run over 7.0 innings.
