STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Drexel softball defeated Stony Brook, 6-3, in the opening game of the CAA series on Wednesday. The Dragons move to 22-21 overall and 11-11 in conference play.

How It Happened

Drexel opened the scoring in the fourth inning when Jackie Masone scored on a Macie Bergmann single to right field to take a 1-0 lead.

In the fifth inning, Olivia Sciulli scored from second base on a Masone double to right center to extend the lead to 2-0.

The Dragons added four runs in the sixth inning. Quinn Cunnigham, Annabelle Smink, and Ariana Castillo all scored on a Kylah Reading home run to right center. Reading's four-RBI home run extended the lead to 6-0.

Stony Brook responded in the bottom of the sixth inning with two runs on a pair of RBI singles to cut the deficit to 6-2.

In the seventh inning, Stony Brook added a run on a double to make it 6-3, but Drexel closed out the game to secure the win.

By the Numbers

Kylah Reading recorded a home run and four RBI.

Jackie Masone went 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI, and two walks.

Macie Bergmann added an RBI.

Olivia Sciulli scored a run and added a hit.

Drexel drew seven walks in the game.

The Dragons recorded five hits and six runs.

Courtney Kols pitched a complete game, allowing three runs over 7.0 innings.
