PHILADELPHIA – Drexel softball split a Friday doubleheader against Towson at the Drexel Softball Field. The Dragons fell 3-2 in game one before responding with an 11-1 win in five innings in the second game. Drexel moves to 20-21 overall and 9-11 in CAA play.

How It Happened – Game One

Towson took an early lead in the first inning on a double to left center that drove in a run.

In the second inning, Towson added two runs on a double to right center to extend the lead to 3-0.

Drexel got on the board in the fourth inning when Olivia Sciulli scored on a Jackie Masone single to shallow right field to cut the deficit to 3-1.

In the seventh inning, Ariana Castillo scored from second base on a Quinn Cunnigham single to right center. Mckenna Rowlands was thrown out at home on the play as Drexel cut the deficit to 3-2 but was unable to complete the comeback.

How It Happened – Game Two

Drexel struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Olivia Sciulli scored on a Natalie Alldred single to third base, and Jackie Masone scored on a fielder's choice to give the Dragons a 2-0 lead.

The Dragons added two runs in the second inning. Annabelle Smink homered to left field, and Kylah Reading scored on a Jackie Masone single to make it 4-0.

Drexel broke the game open in the fourth inning with seven runs. Kylah Reading and Olivia Sciulli scored on a Kelsie Peters single to left center. Jackie Masone scored on an error before Peters later came around to score on a single by Ariana Castillo. Natalie Alldred added a run on a fielder's choice, and Reading reached on an error that brought in two more runs to extend the lead to 11-0.

Towson scored its lone run in the fifth inning on a solo home run.

By the Numbers

Jackie Masone recorded a hit in both games and drove in a run in each contest.

Annabelle Smink hit a home run in game two.

Kelsie Peters recorded two RBI in the second game.

Ariana Castillo added an RBI in game two.

Courtney Kols pitched a complete game in game one and a five-inning complete game in game two.
