Dragons to Play Saint Joseph's Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - The Dragons will travel to Hawk Hill on Saturday to take on Saint Joseph's University in the first of three Big 5 matchups this season. The game tips off at 1 p.m. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker's Local 98 is once again the presenting sponsor of Drexel Men's Basketball.
About Drexel
The Dragons started their season with a convincing 93-59 win over Widener on Monday, 11/3. Graduate student Garfield Turner set a new career high with 14 points and also tallied four rebounds, a steal and a block. Josh Reed also set a career record in scoring with 17 points. Reed finished with a double-double, grabbing 12 rebounds. Drexel was in control from the opening tip, building a 23-4 lead over the Pride in the first seven minutes. Shane Blakeney had nine points and six rebounds and senior Eli Beard made his Drexel debut with six points and four assists. Senior Victor Panov had six points and nine rebounds, as well as four assists and three steals. Kevon Vanderhorst led the team with six assists to go with his nine points, seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.
About Saint Joseph's
The Hawks also won their season opener on Monday, an 85-76 win over Lafayette. They are coached by Steve Donahue in his first season at Saint Joseph's. In June one of their players, Rasheer Fleming was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the NBA Draft. Reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year Duce Jones II was selected to the A-10 Preseason First Team and graduate student Justice Ajobor was voted to the All-Defensive Team. Ajobor finished last season ranked fifth in NCAA Division I with 86 blocks, a team record.

Jaiden Glover-Toscano and Garfield Turner were both key contributors to the early leads for their respective teams on Monday. They both set career highs in points and helped set the tone early on.
