Nathan Lavery Named CAA Men's Co-Coach of the Year as Drexel Wraps up CAA Championships

HAMPTON, Va. – Nathan Lavery named CAA Men's Co-Coach of the Year as Drexel men's swimming and diving finished third place at the CAA Championships.
Head coach Nathan Lavery led the Dragons to an 8-0 regular season record.
The Dragons as a group set three CAA records and eight school records as well as compiling 16 medals in Hampton over the four days.
Jakub Kwasny won his second individual gold medal in the 200 butterfly, touching first in 1:44.10. Alessio Gianni also earned a silver medal in the same event, finishing second with a time of 1:45.56.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Theo Andreopoulos, Petar Pavalic, Jakub Kwasny, and Sebastian Smith set a new CAA record on their way to winning gold with a time of 2:52.71.
Sebastian Smith secured another school record and a silver medal in the 100 freestyle, finishing second in 42.94.
Kaan Akdag earned a silver medal in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:37.82. Kacper Karnik took silver in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:55.94, while Bartosz Loter finished sixth. Petar Pavalic placed fifth in the championship final of the 200 backstroke, with a time of 1:44.27.
Dimi Gkelis finished 10th in the 200 backstroke, while Grady Potter placed 10th in the 1650 freestyle. Youssef Bahgat and Mohammed ElTayeb swam in the consolation final of the 200 butterfly, placing 10th and 11th respectively. Justin Sere and Eli Kofman swam in the consolation final of the 200 breaststroke, placing 15th and 16th respectively.
