Drexel and Towson Battle in the CAA Quarterfinals on Sunday

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Drexel men's basketball team will face Towson on Sunday afternoon in the CAA Quarterfinals at CareFirst Arena in Washington. The Dragons are coming off an impressive win against Elon in the second round and have now won five straight games. Towson is the CAA regular season champion. Tip off is at noon. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker's Local 98 is once again the presenting sponsor of Drexel Men's Basketball for the 2024-25 season.

The Dragons have now won five straight after a convincing 91-74 win against Elon on Saturday. Jason Drake tied a career-high with 25 points and Kobe MaGee scored 19 of his 24 points in the first half as the Dragons improved to 18-14. Cole Hargrove picked up his first career postseason double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 8-for-11 from the floor. Yame Butler chipped in with 14, 10 of those coming over the final 20 minutes. Drexel led by as many as 25 before the Phoenix went on a run and cut it to five with nine minutes to go. Drexel answered with a run of its own to put the game away.

The Tigers were the CAA regular season champion and have the CAA Player of the Year in Tyler Tejada and the Coach of the Year in Pat Skerry. In addition, Nendah Tarke was voted CAA Sixth Man of the Year, while Dylan Williamson earned All-CAA Second Team honors.
The Tigers enter the tournament with a 21-10 record including a 16-2 mark in CAA play. They have won 20 or more in four straight seasons.
The Series
The winner of Sunday's game will face either William & Mary or Campbell in the CAA Semifinals at 6 p.m. on Monday.

The Tigers rallied from a six-point deficit in the final minute to beat the Dragons in overtime at the DAC, 93-82. In Maryland, Victor Panov scored what appeared to be the game winning basket, but after review it came after the buzzer as the Tigers escaped with a one-point win.
