PHILADELPHIA – Brooke Kalman has been named the Head Coach of the Drexel softball program, Drexel University Vice President, Director of Athletics and Recreation Maisha Kelly announced today. Kalman comes to Drexel from Gettysburg College, where she captured the program's first NCAA Regional Championship. Kalman is the 11th coach in the program's history.
"We are excited to welcome Brooke to Drexel," Kelly said. "Brooke's tenacity and experience in guiding teams to the postseason are a testament to her leadership ability. We are fortunate to have someone of her caliber join the Drexel softball program and inject a competitive spirit from day one. She has extensive experience in identifying student-athletes who will excel academically, in addition to their abilities on the field. I look forward to the next chapter of our softball program under her direction."
Kalman concluded her third season at Gettysburg in 2025, winning the Centennial Conference Regular Season as well as the Regional Championship. Kalman and her staff were recognized by the Centennial as the Coaching Staff of the Year, as she guided the team to its highest national ranking in both school and conference history (No. 13), accrued the most wins in a single season in program history and coached two All-American's, also the first for the program. During her time with the Bullets, Kalman pieced together a 93-35-1 record and the second-highest winning percentage in program history.
"I want to thank Maisha Kelly, Erin DeMarco, and the Drexel hiring committee," Kalman said. "My softball journey has taken me all over the country, but at every stop I have always brought a little bit of Philadelphia area with me. To now come home, to the area where I grew up, and that shaped me into the person and coach that I am today is a special and rare opportunity. I look forward to collaborating with the current team and administration and will be relentless in my efforts to make Drexel Softball a top contender in the CAA. Like always, I will stay rooted in my belief that as coaches, our most important job is to assist in the personal growth and development of our student-athletes both on and off the field."
Prior to her stint at Gettysburg, Kalman served as the Head Coach and Student-Athlete Leadership Program Director at MIT from 2018-2022. During her time in Cambridge, she led MIT to top-25 NFCA rankings and NCAA Regional Finals, while also developing All-American student-athletes at one of the top academic softball programs in the nation.
Kalman's coaching career also includes head coaching stints at Franklin & Marshall College and Ripon College. She started her career as an assistant at Ursinus.
Kalman is a graduate of Gettysburg College, where she was a four-year letterwinner and team captain and earned her degree in psychology with a minor in writing. She earned her master's degree from Villanova in counseling.
