Dragons Split Road Trip, Defeat UNCW, 76-67

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Drexel women's basketball team defeated the UNCW Seahawks to conclude Drexel's southern road trip on Sunday afternoon, 76-67. Drexel improved to 2-3 in conference play, while UNCW fell to 1-5.
BY THE NUMBERS
Five Dragons scored double-digits in Sunday's contest. Amaris Baker finished with 24, Molly Rullo finished with 15, Deja Evans scored 11 and Grace O'Neill and Mariah Watkins each scored 10 points. The last time five Dragons scored north of 10 points was on February 28, 2025, against Monmouth.
Baker's 25 points came off a 9-for-15 night. The graduate student also added five rebounds and four assists.
O'Neill was one rebound shy of a double-double. O'Neill also finished with five assists.
Drexel has now beaten UNCW 27 straight times, dating back to March 11, 2011.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Drexel opened the game shooting 7-for-9 to take a 14-7 lead into the first media timeout. The Dragons held UNCW to just 3-for-7. The Dragons extended its lead in the final five minutes to 12 after shooting a 59% clip. The Drexel defense limited the Seahawk damage by holding the home team to just 4-for-13 and 1-for-5 from deep. Evans led Drexel in scoring, collecting seven points, while Baker had six.
The Seahawks outscored the Dragons by three points in the second quarter to make dwindle the Drexel lead to nine.
The Drexel offense stalled in the second frame, only shooting 5-for-16 and 2-for-6 from deep. Grace O'Neill led Drexel in the second frame, scoring four points and adding three rebounds.
UNCW outscored Drexel, 20-19 in the third frame, to be within eight of the Dragons at the start of the fourth quarter. Amaris Baker scored six points, while Molly Rullo added five.
The Dragons scored 22 points and held UNCW to 21 in the final frame to secure the road conference victory. Baker scored nine points on 3-for-3 shooting. Rullo scored five points and O'Neill finished the quarter with four.

The Dragons host the Stony Brook Seawolves on Friday night at 6 p.m. on NBC Sports Philadelphia and FloCollege.
