Women's Basketball to Welcome Stony Brook and Towson to DAC This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's basketball team returns to the Daskalakis Athletic Center for a two-day homestand. Due to inclement weather the Dragons are set to play back-to-back games against Stony Brook on Friday and Towson on Saturday. Tip off on Friday evening is set for 6 p.m., while Saturday will follow the men's 2 p.m. game at 6 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Drexel women's basketball team defeated the UNCW Seahawks to conclude Drexel's southern road trip on Sunday afternoon, 76-67. Drexel improved to 2-3 in conference play, while UNCW fell to 1-5.
Five Dragons scored double-digits in Sunday's contest. Amaris Baker finished with 24, Molly Rullo finished with 15, Deja Evans scored 11 and Grace O'Neill and Mariah Watkins each scored 10 points. The last time five Dragons scored north of 10 points was on February 28, 2025, against Monmouth.
Baker's 25 points came off a 9-for-15 night. The graduate student also added five rebounds and four assists.
O'Neill was one rebound shy of a double-double. O'Neill also finished with five assists.
Drexel has now beaten UNCW 27 straight times, dating back to March 11, 2011.
All-Time Series vs. Stony Brook
It will be the second meeting this season between the Dragons and Seawolves. On January, 9, Stony Brook hosted the Dragons and defeated them, 57-53. This will be the third game between the two teams at the DAC and it will break a 1-1 tie between the two teams in Philadelphia.
All-Time Series vs. Towson
Drexel welcomes Towson to the DAC for the 39th time on Saturday afternoon. Currently, the Dragons are 32-6 at home and have won four of the past five games at home. Drexel and Towson first met on February 5, 1983. Towson was victorious 76-53 and began the series with a six-game winstreak.

The Drexel women's basketball team was defeated by the Stony Brook Seawolves, 57-53, on Friday night on Long Island, N.Y.
Deja Evans turned in her highest scoring performance of the season with 20 points after shooting 9-for-16 and grabbing a team-high eight rebounds.
Laine McGurk finished with 13 points on 4-for-11 shooting. The junior also made two treys.
Amaris Baker was the third Dragon in double digits, scoring 10 points.
The game featured seven occurrences where the game was tied, eight lead changes and the largest lead for either team was seven.
Last Time Against Towson
The Drexel women's basketball team extended its winning streak to five games after defeating the Towson Tigers, 53-49, on Sunday afternoon at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
Amaris Baker and Chloe Hodges each contributed 16 points to the final stat sheet. Hodges, went 6-for-11 from the field and corralled seven rebounds and dished out six assists. The senior also went 4-for-5 from the charity stripe.
Grace O'Neill finished with 10 assists and six rebounds. Hodges and O'Neill were the only players to tally assists for the Dragons, who finished with 20 field goals and 16 assists.
The difference in the game was free throws. Both teams made 20 field goals and Towson made one trey more than Drexel. However, Drexel got to the free throw line 12 times, while Towson visited 10. The Tigers only made four, while Drexel made nine.
Looking Ahead
Drexel travels to West Long Branch, N.J. on Friday, January 30 to face the Monmouth Hawks at 7 p.m. Then, on Sunday, the Dragons play the Northeastern Huskies in Boston, Mass. at 1 p.m.
