Lemongo Sets Program Record in Singles Wins; Drexel Defeats Stony Brook, 4-3

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's tennis team defeated the Stony Brook, 4-3, at home on Sunday.
In doubles play, Anastasia Kavounov and Rebecca Fiedler fell 7-5. Adva Dabah and Christine Fourie fell 7(7)-6(5). Lorie Lemongo and Noor Heiba fell 6-2.
In singles play, Lemongo went 6-4, 3-6 and 6-2. With her win she sets a new program record for career singles wins. The Cameroon native, competing at the No. 1 singles position, has been a cornerstone of the Dragons' success since arriving on campus. A four-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll honoree and two-time All-CAA First Team selection, Lemongo's consistency and competitive excellence have defined her career.
Lemongo has primarily competed at the top spot in the lineup throughout her time at Drexel, facing the opponent's best player match after match while maintaining a winning record. The milestone caps a storied career that includes reaching the Sweet 16 of the Super ITA's as a freshman and earning All-CAA honors in each of her first three seasons.
Kavounov went 6-2, 1-6 and 6-3. Dabah fell in three competitive games, winning the first match before dropping the next two 6-1, 3-6 and 3-6. Sofia Snitko won after going 6-2, 1-6 and 6-2. Fiedler fell in three tight games: going 4-6, 6(4)-7(7) and 0(5) 1(10). Fourie ended the day by going 6-1 and 6-3.
