BOSTON – The Drexel men's basketball team wrapped its two-game road trip with a 70-61 win over the Northeastern Huskies on Thursday. Victor Panov led the team with 19 points, tying his career high. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker's Local 98 is once again the presenting sponsor of Drexel Men's Basketball.
BY THE NUMBERS
Panov shot 70% from the field while pulling in seven rebounds, serving up five assists, blocking a shot and stealing the ball once.
Shane Blakeney had 18 points and dominated defensively: rebounding the ball seven times on the defensive end and stealing the ball three times.
Eli Beard and Kevon Vanderhorst both had eight points on 3/5 shooting.
The Dragons held the Huskies to 39% shooting on the evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Drexel jumped out to a 5-0 lead off a Panov three and a Vanderhorst layup. Back-to-back to-back baskets put Northeastern ahead 6-5 before a Beard three put the Dragons back in front with 15:41 remaining. The Huskies responded with an 11-5 run before Drexel went on a 16-4 run, with the Dragons sharing the ball; Beard, Blakeney, Villiam Garcia Adsten, Vanderhorst and Dillon Tingler all scored, giving Drexel an eight-point lead with 2:26 left in the opening frame.
A Northeastern three made it a five-point game at the half.
Drexel's defense held the Huskies to 30.8% shooting from the field in the first half and outrebounded them 17-12
The Dragons started the second half with back-to-back baskets from Panov and Blakeney. An 8-0 Northeastern run made it a one-point game before a Panov three made it 36-32 with 15:59 to play. The Huskies cut the lead to two before a jumpshot from Panov and an and-one from Blakeney made it 41-34 game at the 14:10 mark.
A 7-0 Northeastern run cut the lead back down to one before a layup from Blakeney made it a three-point game with just over 10 minutes to play. The teams went back and forth, with Drexel continuing to extend its lead. Josh Reed made it 52-48 with a layup at the 5:36 mark. The Huskies cut the lead back down to two but Blakeney responded with a three followed by a free throw from Panov to push the lead up to six. Northeastern continued to chip away at the lead but free throws from Blakeney and Vanderhorst made it a 60-53 game with 3:25 left. Free throws from Reed, Panov, Garcia Adsten and Tingler all sealed the win for Drexel.
The Dragons stole the ball eight times and blocked eight Huskie shots on the evening. On the offensive end of the court Drexel outscored Northeastern 34-24 in the paint.

The Dragons return home to host the Towson Tigers on Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the game will be covered on CBS Sports Network. Tickets can be purchased here.
