Drexel Hosts Home Weekend Beginning on Friday Against Hampton

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's basketball team returns to the Daskalakis Athletic Center on Friday night to host the Hampton Pirates. Action from Philadelphia is slated for 6 p.m. on Friday night.
Last Time Out
The Drexel women's basketball team defeated the Northeastern Huskies on Sunday, 65-56. The Dragons have now won five-straight games, marking a new season-high. DU improved to 6-3 in conference play and 13-7 overall.
Laine McGurk scored 24 points on 9-for-15 shooting. The junior's 24 points is her second highest this season. McGurk made eight shots and also corralled five rebounds. It is the third time that she has scored more than 20 points this season and fifth in her career.
Amaris Baker scored 21 points and also grabbed three rebounds and dished one assist. It is the 11th time this season that Baker crossed the 20-point mark. Her 21 points also pushes her Drexel career points to 1,290 points and sole possession of 16th in program history.
The last time Drexel had two players score north of 20 points was against Chestnut Hill on December 16, 2025. Baker scored 26 points, while Iriona Gravely scored 23.

Drexel and Hampton are set to meet for the seventh time in program history on Friday night. The Dragons currently hold a 4-2 advantage over the Pirates and have won the previous four matchups. The Dragons have not lost to the Pirates since March 19, 2015 during the first round of the 2015 WNIT Tournament. Drexel owns a 1-2 record against Hampton at home, however the teams have only met in Philadelphia once as CAA opponents.

Amaris Baker's shot with three-seconds remaining secured Drexel a road win against Hampton on Sunday afternoon, 59-58. The senior scored Drexel's final 12 points of the game to erase a six-point deficit in the fourth quarter and push Drexel to a 7-8 record and a 3-2 mark in the CAA.
Baker finished the game with 22 points. It is the 11th straight game in double digits. The senior also tallied five rebounds.
Grace O'Neill finished with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists.
It is the first time the Dragons scored in the final 10 seconds of a game to win since Chloe Hodges scored with three seconds remaining against Towson in the CAA Semifinals in 2024.
Looking Ahead
Drexel welcomes the Monmouth Hawks to the Daskalakis Athletic Center on February 8 to complete the two-game series against the Hawks. The game against Monmouth is set for a 1 p.m. tip on FloCollege.
