PHILADELPHIA — The Drexel wrestling team was upended by Bucknell Saturday night in the Daskalakis Athletic Center, falling 21–17. The loss marked the Dragons' first in EIWA action this season and just their second conference loss in the past two years, as Drexel moved to 12–4 overall.
The Bison captured the dual by winning four straight bouts down the stretch at 165, 174, 184 and 197 pounds, combining for 15 points to secure the victory. Four Dragons earned wins on the night, highlighted by No. 24 Nate Schon, who earned a fall over No. 32 Lucas Lawler.
Oumar Tounkara recorded his first career dual victory, opening the night at 125 pounds against Kade Davidheiser. Tounkara scored an early takedown in the first period and nearly secured a pin while earning three near-fall points. He added four more near-fall points in the second before Davidheiser managed a reversal. Davidheiser opened the third period with a takedown, but Tounkara quickly escaped and answered with a takedown of his own, cruising to a 14–7 decision.
Deon Pleasant earned his fifth dual victory of the season with a technical fall over Kaden Schaefer at 149 pounds. Pleasant surrendered an early takedown but responded quickly to take a 4-3 lead after the first period. The redshirt senior nearly secured a pin in the second, collecting four near-fall points to build an 8-3 advantage. Pleasant added seven more points in the third period and sealed the technical fall with riding time.
Two points proved enough for Luke Nichter, who edged Cade Wimsberger by a 2–1 decision at 157 pounds. Nichter earned an escape point and was awarded a point on a stalling call, securing his 13th win of the season.
Bucknell followed with four straight victories to claim the dual, capped by No. 27 Dillon Bechtold's 5–4 decision over Ibrahim Ameer.
Nate Schon closed the night on a high note at 285 pounds, pinning No. 32 Lucas Lawler in the third period. The fall marked the redshirt junior's fourth pin of the season and his second victory over a ranked opponent.
