Drexel to Play #6 Elon in CAA Quarterfinals

PHILADELPHIA - Drexel is set to begin its run at the 2026 CAA Championships on Friday, March 13 against the Elon Phoenix at 8:30 p.m. Drexel enters the tournament as the #3 seed, while Elon finished as the six seed and defeated the 11th-seeded Hampton Pirates on Thursday, 67-62.
Last Time Out
The Drexel women's basketball team completed the regular season, dropping a game to the Towson Tigers, 74-58 on Saturday afternoon in Towson, Md. Drexel falls to 20-9 overall and 13-5 in conference play and will be the third seed in the upcoming CAA Tournament in Washington, D.C. from March 11-15.
Amaris Baker scored 25 points in the regular season finale, converting on 10 field goals and four free throws. The last time Baker scored 10 field goals was on February 6 against Hampton, where she scored 24 points.
Bria Watkins finished with seven points on a pair of threes. The freshman also grabbed four rebounds.
Julia Garcia Roig led the team in assists, dishing out six helpers in the finale.
All-Time Series
Drexel and Elon meet for the 24th time on Friday night. Currently, Drexel is on an eight-game winning streak over the Phoenix and have won nine of the last 10 games. Against Elon in the CAA Tournament, Elon and Drexel have met two times, last meeting in 2021. The Dragons defeated the Phoenix, 65-59 enrout to the program's conference title run. The first meeting between the two teams was in 2018.

The Drexel women's basketball team outlasted the Elon Phoenix, 68-59 on Friday evening at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The Dragons improve to 15-8 overall and 8-4 in CAA play.
Amaris Baker finished with 27 points on 9-for-16 shooting and grabbed five rebounds. It is the 14th time this season that the graduate student has scored north of 20 points, and it is the 29th time of her career that she crossed that threshold.
Deja Evans scored 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting. The junior scored a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe and grabbed seven rebounds in the effort.
Elon only held the lead for 39 seconds before Drexel surged ahead to hold the lead for 38:53. The Dragons' largest lead was 19 points at the end of the third quarter.
Looking Ahead
If Drexel were to defeat Elon in the quarterfinals game on Friday night, Drexel will play the winner of the #10 Hofstra and #2 Campbell game. The semifinals game is set for 4:30 at CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C.
