Dragons Fall in Regular Season Finale to Towson, 74-58

TOWSON, Md. – The Drexel women's basketball team completed the regular season, dropping a game to the Towson Tigers, 74-58 on Saturday afternoon in Towson, Md. Drexel falls to 20-9 overall and 13-5 in conference play and will be the third seed in the upcoming CAA Tournament in Washington, D.C. from March 11-15.
BY THE NUMBERS
Amaris Baker scored 25 points in the regular season finale, converting on 10 field goals and four free throws. The las time Baker scored 10 field goals was on February 6 against Hampton, where she scored 24 points.
Bria Watkins finished with seven points on a pair of threes. The freshman also grabbed four rebounds.
Julia Garcia Roig led the team in assists, dishing out six helpers in the finale.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dragons ended the first quarter trailing by one point, despite shooting 5-for-16 from field goal range. Bria Watkins entered the game off the bench and made an immediate impact, scoring six points on a pair of treys.
The second quarter saw Towson take an eight-point lead into the locker rooms for halftime. The Dragons were held to just five field goals. Evans led Drexel with four points no 2-for-4 shooting. Towson led Drexel 34-26 after the first 20 minutes of play.
Towson continued its hot shooting, outscoring Drexel, 18-14, to take a 52-40 lead into the final frame. The Dragons shot 6-for-19, led by Baker, who scored eight points. The Tigers used an 11-point run in the middle of the quarter to help pull away from Drexel.
Towson outscored Drexel 22-18 in the final frame, holding the Dragons to just 5-for-17. The Dragons received a 10-point performance from Baker in the fourth quarter. Drexel finished the game making just one of the last seven shots.

With the loss and a Campbell win over Stony Brook moves Drexel to the No. 3 seed and will play the winner of the No. 6 and No. 11 game.
