PHILADELPHIA – Nate Schon and Courtney Kols named the Drexel Dragons of the Week, presented by Rothman Orthopaedics, for the week of March 3rd–9th.
Nate Schon, a member of the wrestling team, secured his place at the NCAA Championships after a standout performance at the EIWA Championships. The redshirt junior pinned Army's top-seeded Brady Colbert in just 1:06 during the semifinal round of the 285-pound bracket to advance to the finals and clinch his spot at nationals in Cleveland, Ohio. The Selinsgrove, Pa. native recorded his fifth fall of the season and finished the tournament as the runner-up, becoming one of Drexel's two NCAA qualifiers.
Courtney Kols, a member of the softball team, delivered two strong performances in the circle during Drexel's series sweep of Maryland Eastern Shore. The freshman tossed a complete game in the opener, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out six across 4.2 innings. Kols followed with another win the next day, pitching six innings while allowing two hits and one run with six strikeouts to help secure the series sweep.
