PHILADELPHIA – Brendan Donnelly and the Drexel women's rowing Varsity 4+ named the Drexel Dragons of the Week, presented by Rothman Orthopaedics, for the week of April 7th–13th.
Brendan Donnelly, a member of the men's lacrosse team, recorded a career-high 19 saves to lead Drexel to a 17-8 victory over Hofstra at Vidas Field. The junior goalkeeper anchored the Dragons' defense as Drexel secured its spot in the CAA Tournament and improved to 4-1 in conference play. The Audubon, Pa. native played a key role in holding the Pride to single digits while the Dragons built a double-digit lead.
The Drexel women's rowing Varsity 4+ captured gold at the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River. The crew of Katie O'Donnell (coxswain), Michaela Werber (stroke), Hazel Danko, Olivia Duffy and River Trotter (bow) finished with a time of 8:09.73, crossing the line 2.4 seconds ahead of Boston College. The victory marked the program's first gold medal in the Varsity 4+ at the Knecht Cup during Paul Savell's tenure.
