Greg Cusick was named Drexel's Senior Associate Athletics Director for Strategic Marketing and Communications/External Relations during the summer of 2022. He came to University City after spending the previous five years at Wagner College.
In his role at Drexel, he helped orchestrate a marketing and media plan for Drexel’s 2024 Women’s Basketball NCAA Tournament appearance resulting in a valuation of more than $4 million worth of coverage. He led the external relations team that is responsible for a 49% increase in average attendance for men’s basketball since his arrival. Cusick directed the introduction of new game presentation items into a $7 million renovated arena. He was also a host city committee member for the 2023 & 2024 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship as well as the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championship. In addition, Cusick oversees a revenue generation team that has led to increased rentals and partnerships for the department highlighted by the nationally televised The Basketball Tournament (TBT) semifinals and championship games competing at the DAC in both 2023 and 2024.
Cusick is responsible for increasing the exposure and awareness of the Drexel Athletics brand and identity. He manages the external relations, marketing and communications staff and works collaboratively with individuals and organizations across the University. His role develops and implements creative and measurable plans. These include marketing and promotions of varsity athletics events and engagement, communications across all media and digital platforms, revenue through promotions and ticket sales, merchandise and fulfillment of corporate sales and vendor agreements.
While at Wagner, Cusick was an administrator in the Seahawks' Department of Athletics. He was elevated to the Seahawks' Associate Athletics Director for External Relations position in 2021. Cusick oversaw all corporate sponsorships, marketing & sales efforts, media relations, trademark and licensing. He also directed fundraising and alumni relations. In addition, he served as the sport administrator for the golf programs, cheerleading, dance and the marching band.
Before his appointment at Wagner, Cusick spent one year at St. Augustine Preparatory School in Richland, N.J., as the marketing and communications coordinator. He generated social media graphics and content while also developing Google AdWord & Facebook Ad campaigns for the school. Cusick helped increase St. Augustine's Twitter and Facebook followers by more than 25 percent while assisting in live YouTube streaming of specific athletic and campus-wide events. He was also an assistant coach for the varsity basketball program and the head freshman basketball coach at St. Augustine.
Prior to his arrival at St. Augustine, the Sicklerville, N.J., native spent two years at Wagner as the marketing and media relations assistant, while pursuing an MBA in management. Cusick was instrumental in the Seahawks' local corporate sponsorship rising by more than 30 percent. He also developed and implemented strategic marketing plans for the football and men's and women's basketball programs. As the media relations assistant, Cusick was the primary media contact for the Wagner men's and women's water polo programs.
Cusick graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University in 2013 with a double major in sport management and economics. He began his career in college athletics as a marketing and new media intern at the University of Pennsylvania during the 2013-14 academic year.
