Jill Axel is Drexel’s senior associate athletic director for external relations, a title she received in May of 2011. Prior to that appointment, Axel was the associate athletics director for three years and has been with the department for two decades. She originally came to Drexel in 1999 as the director of external relations. Axel’s duties include overseeing the marketing and promotions of Drexel’s varsity sports, special events, Drexel Athletics multi-media rights partner, tickets, the communications and video departments and licensing among other duties. She is also the administrator for field hockey and the administrative liaison for men's lacrosse.
Prior to her arrival at Drexel, Axel was the marketing manager for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Her responsibilities included selling sponsorship packages, servicing accounts and managing marketing activities. The Springfield Township (Montgomery County) native also worked in the Philadelphia Eagles Corporate Sales Department as the corporate services supervisor and marketing assistant.
Axel graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in journalism is 1992. After graduation, she went on to receive her master’s degree in education, sport administration, from Temple University in 1994.
Axel and her husband, Sean, live in Devon, Pa., with their sons, Ben and Holden.
