2009-10: Helped Drexel to a second-place finish at the Swarthmore Invitational by claiming the 200 fly with a time of 2:01.04…recorded a 1:50.07 in the 200 free for a first-place finish to help Drexel outlast Widener.
2008-09: Competed in fly events in his first season…Drexel’s top freshman in both the 100 and 200 fly with top times of 53.36 and 1:58.59, respectively…set season-best in the 100 fly at Terrapin Cup Invitational and 200 fly at CAA Championships.
Background: Served as team captain at Lewis Palmer as a senior...Took fifth place in the 100 fly at Far Western Championships...school record holder in 100 fly...also member of the 400 free relay team that broke the school record...helped team to undefeated dual meet record all four seasons.
Personal: Son of Jason and Janine Grooms...his father played football and mother swam, both for Towson University...majoring in environmental science.
