In 2014-2015 Gizem returns to Drexel to get her Master's Degree in TV Management, while serving as an Assistant Women's Swimming Coach. Gizem is excited to show her Dragon pride to help others improve both in and out of the pool.
Gizem graduated from Drexel in June 2014 with a degree in Television - News and Non-fiction Production. Besides her academic achievements at Drexel University, she was also a member of Drexel Vasity Swim Team. During her swimming career with the Dragons she broke the school record for 200 yard backstroke with time of 2:00.57, swam in the finals of the CAA Championships and was named the team captain in the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 seasons. She received the "Rookie of the Year" award for her success in her freshman year and the "Coaches Award" in her senior season for her dedication and sportsmanship.
Gizem, who first came to Drexel as an undergrad in 2010, is originally from Turkey, where at the age of 18 Gizem was the national record holder for 200m backstroke and ranked in Top Three in the 50m and the 100m backstroke in Turkey. She was a valuable member of the Turkish National Team, participating in over 12 international competitions including European Championships, Swimming World Cup and the Mediterranean Games. She was named the swimmer of the year of her city in 2008.
